About Laura Thorpe
“My desire and delight is to empower and assist individuals in learning the wisdom of self-care to achieve optimum health, addressing the whole person.”
I enjoy successfully supporting clients in wellness centers, education, private integrative clinic settings, spiritual settings and other organizations. I have over 20 years of qigong experience, the first half in practice, the second in both the teaching and practice of qigong, tai chi and training new teachers. I work with individuals, groups and organizations.
I facilitate ongoing SoulCollage® classes and workshops, contribute to wellness publications and am happy to consult with you.
Training and Experience
Laura studied with Spring Forest Qigong Master Chunyi Lin and became a certified Qigong and Tai Chi Easy instructor with international master teacher, physician and author, Dr. Roger Jahnke at the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi in Santa Barbara, CA where she is an assistant trainer. She has completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course through The Center for Spirituality and Healing, University of Minnesota, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Dance from Connecticut College.
She has led Tai Chi Easy and Qigong classes, workshops and retreats at Good Vibrations Yoga, the Bloomington Public School system, Fairview-Ebenezer assisted living and the Center for Harmonious Living. She has worked both one-on-one with clients at Westside Natural Health Clinic, Dr. Tatiana Rioboken and with corporate wellness groups.
Additionally, she is both an independent and Pathways Healing Center SoulCollage® facilitator which she finds deeply fulfilling. She has been a contributing editor/proofreader for learning and wellness programs and publications, including social style profile workshops for work teams and Train the Trainer with Wilson Learning Corporation; Raw Coping Power: From Stress to Thriving, Joel Bennett; SoulCollage® Evolving, Seena Frost, a Finalist in ForeWord Review's 2010 Book of the Year Awards in the: Body, Mind & Spirit category, and a Silver Medal Winner, 2011 Nautilus Book Awards in the Personal Growth/Self-Help/Psychology category; and Self-Esteem – A Family Affair by Jeanne Illsley Clarke.
